In short: A day trip from Medellín to Santa Fe de Antioquia, the former capital of the department and a national monument, with the Puente de Occidente suspension bridge, the Juan del Corral museum and a fruit market. Private or shared.
About this tour
Santa Fe de Antioquia is the cradle of Antioquian identity: a former capital, preserved as a national monument, whose churches, houses and streets tell the story of the colonial era, of carriages and of the Antioquian colonization. It is a hot, relaxed town just outside the Medellín valley.
You tour the historic center (by tuk-tuk on the private tour), enter the Museo Juan del Corral and walk the Puente de Occidente, the suspension bridge that is also a national monument. You then visit the market of typical western fruits and the traditional sweets, and on the private tour try the filigree craft, an ancestral skill brought by the Spanish, learn about the town’s carnival and its traditional masks, and drive through San Jerónimo.
On the shared tour, the afternoon is spent at a hostería in the area with recreational facilities, after a typical lunch.
